Places to Visit

Although tucked away in this peaceful and secluded spot the lodges are ideally situated for those wishing to enjoy the beautiful local scenery and tourist attractions.

Bantham Beach is only one and a half miles away and there are numerous walks along the coastal path to Thurlestone, Hope Cove and, for the more energetic, Salcombe! In the other direction a short ferry crossing (in season) will take you to Bigbury, Burgh Island and beyond.

Avon Estuary

Shopping for basic provisions is possible close by at Thurlestone or Bantham where there is also a cafe over-looking the river.

Nearby Kingsbridge with its regular farmers market offers shops, cafes, restaurants and boat trips. Salcombe with its sailing and boating opportunities is another must.

There are numerous National Trust houses and gardens in the area and, of course, further afield Totnes, Dartmouth, Plymouth and the wilds of Dartmoor. Steam trains run from Totnes to Buckfastleigh and Kingswear to Paignton.

Burgh Island

For many though a walk along the coastal path with its abundant birdlife and sea views followed by a pasty, cream tea or pint of local ale is paradise enough.
