A delightful Devon holiday cottage

Situated in the beautiful South Hams Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South Devon, Woodcutters Cabin is a privately owned pine lodge nestling in the peace and seclusion of Buckland Park. It is one of only six lodges set in two and a half acres of this beautiful valley, a haven for birds and wildlife. A stream borders the site and the views are of rolling hills grazed by sheep and cattle and with buzzards soaring overhead.

The old smuggling village of Bantham is only one mile away and from here it is a short stroll to the famous Bantham Beach with stunning views of Burgh Island and the coastline as far away as Cornwall.  For those who do not surf or swim the coastal path leads eastwards to Thurlestone and Hope Cove or westwards via the small estuary ferry (in season) to Bigbury-on-Sea and beyond.  This area is a walkers’ paradise as you follow the numerous footpaths with wonderful views of sea, shore and countryside.

The towns of Kingsbridge and Salcombe are nearby, only 10-15 minutes by car, and a ferry links the two in summer. Smaller boats also take visitors to coves and beaches in the estuary. Further afield Totnes and Dartmouth make an interesting day out with delightful trips on the River Dart linking the two towns.  Steam trains also run from Kingswear to Paignton where there is an excellent zoo and Totnes to Buckfastleigh with its Butterfly and Otter Centre.  Other local attractions include Dartmoor, Plymouth and numerous National Trust properties.

There are village shops and excellent pubs in Thurlestone, Bantham and Churchstow. Kingsbridge offers a supermarket, banks, numerous shops and regular farmers markets.
